AUDITIONS START TOMORROW
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Currently sitting by the fire, the site is - for all intents and purposes, ready - and I’m listening to sweeping orchestral music with my mom as we work on our respective projects - quaint and cozy vibes all around. AND THE SITE WILL FINALLY GO LIVE TOMORROW AND THAT MEANS IT’S TIME FOR PEOPLE TO AUDITION. So ready to see people slay.
On a non-Saguaro-Dove-and-Love-in-the-Mirror note, I got some professional feedback for Perry in Shadows!!! I apparently opted for it when I submitted it to the Austin Film Festival’s playwriting category and was so pleasantly surprised to receive some thoughts. That show is a beautiful mess and could definitely use some refinement, which was the bulk of what they told me. In the festival’s eyes, I created characters who were multidimensional, empathetic, and engaging, who just need to exist inside a more polished script. I agree with all of that feedback 1000%, and even if I didn’t, it would still be just as valuable. The main point is that somebody who has no obligation to give me positive feedback - someone whose entire job is reading my work through critical eyes - read it, and found my character work and dialogue successful? I’m over the moon, honestly. I’m more motivated than ever to give that show another draft (amidst the like… four other shows I’m writing right now HAH) and share it with the world on a larger scale. I know that was just one group’s thoughts about my show, and they may or may not be representative of the general population, but it’s nice. Just gotta keep writing and submitting, baby.
ANYWAY. Audition for The Saguaro Dove and Love in the Mirror!! And come see them!!!! Tickets will be on sale in the coming months, and you know I’ll advertise the hell out of them here and on every other platform. And let me know if there’s anything I could improve about this site!! Anything you’d want to see on it!! Anything you’d want me to write about, whether it’s a post like this or a play!! The playwrighting journey is simultaneously something I’ve been on for years, and something I’m just beginning. Make sure to follow @saguaromirror2023 on Instagram and check back here/subscribe for updates on those shows. MARCH 24-25, 2023 PREMIERE!!!
